Angola is a battle-scarred country with widespread poverty, and an infrastructure shattered by years of fighting. Despite all this Angola has expansive beaches, and wonderful wildlife parks which remains the destination of adventurers.
The capital of the country is Luanda, which is also the country’s largest city and is located on its western coast. Angola has a diversity of flora and fauna with dense forestland in some areas. Gorillas can be found in their natural habitat in Cabinda. A unique type of vegetable, Welwitshia Mirabilis, is grown in the desert area of Namibe.
The climate in Angola is warm throughout the year, however it is during the hotter months that the beaches are filled with vibrant local music and a wonderful atmosphere.
In order to protect and preserve the animal and vegetable life, there have been a few natural parks and reserves created throughout the whole of Angola.
Angola’s economy is based mainly on oil and makes up over 90% of its exports. Second to that is diamonds, with major diamond reserves located in northeastern Angola.
Angola offers tourists a rich diversity of African cultures and traditions.
